The Messengers takes me back to the distant time when lead Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Underwater) wasn’t world famous for being a sparkly vampire. God, saying that out loud makes me feel old.

THE CONJURING 2
After feeling lukewarm about The Conjuring, I wasn’t in a rush to see the cleverly titled sequel The Conjuring 2. I anticipated the same type of bullshit Insidious: Chapter 3 tried to pull, but I figured since I just saw Sinister 2 this would kind of follow the theme, being they are both recent sequels to popular horror movies. Would this be a cheap cash grab or would it turn out alright?
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3
When the first sequel to Insidious was announced I rolled my eyes. To my surprise it turned out to be a worthy addition to the story. When Insidious: Chapter 3 was announced I rolled my eyes even harder. I knew for a fact there was nowhere they could take this story that would result in something positive. My senses didn’t fail me.
WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL
WNUF Halloween Special is a curious work of art. It was made in 2013 but appears to be filmed in 1987. In fact, its grainy appearance is what grants it its charm. It was a very small release, costing only $1,500 to make. The creators wanted to keep it shrouded in anonymity, so they pursued a silent ad campaign consisting of throwing VHS copies out of car windows and dropping off piles of tapes at conventions. The whole entirety of WNUF was supposed to capture the essence of an earlier era of entertainment. While I’m all for a heavy heap of nostalgia, unfortunately this film takes it too far.
