ZOMBEAVERS

Zombeavers-Poster

Yes, I’m serious. Zombeavers is exactly what it looks like. When a tank of toxic waste is released into a river the beavers get the brunt of it. Now blood hungry, the rodents find there way to a party cabin inhabited by a group of rowdy young adults. Thus, the battle of Man vs. Zombeaver begins.

RE-ANIMATOR

Re-Animator-poster

♆♆♆

It had been such a long time since I first laid my eyes upon the classic Re-Animator that I had forgotten most of what happens in the movie. I figured it would be good to go back and revisit the film not only for nostalgia sake, but to prepare myself for the sequels I have never seen. Re-Animator is about a medical scientist obsessed with bringing the freshly deceased back to life with his fluorescent glowing green mystery serum. He does everything he can to further his experiments, including convincing a fellow med student to be his “Igor”. Things begin to spiral out of control as the scientist starts leaving behind a wake of alive-yet-dead subjects. Continue reading

DEAD SPACE: DOWNFALL

dead-space-downfall-5247c9371e7c2

Dead Space: Downfall is the 2008 animated movie that was released in tandem with the video game Dead Space and serves as a prequel to the game. It is also one of the many movies I have started and fell asleep watching, not because of the content but because I make poor choices like starting them at 3 AM. This time I was able to get the whole way through without conking out.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES

Paranormal_Activity_The_Marked_Ones-301939210-large

No series has become a yearly genre staple like the Paranormal Activity series since the Saw collection. They are making these faster than I can bother to watch them, as was the case last year when I didn’t get to Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, so I made a point to catch it this time around. Although it is the fifth entry in the series it was not assigned a number in the title because of it being a spin-off of Paranormal Activity 3 and not an official entry. Many people are have already been sick of this franchise for a long time now but something about the formula used in these films keeps bringing me back for more. I just want you to know (as with most movies) I went into this one with no predetermined judgments.

STAGE FRIGHT

stage-fright-b-big

A musical to die for, literally. Stage Fright is a tongue-in-cheek production about a serious production. A camp for drama geeks is gearing up for what they hope will be a Broadway worthy performance. There is only one problem- a masked killer is on the loose with a vendetta against the musical. That won’t stop the cast and crew from getting their chance to shine. After all, the show must go on!

ALMOST HUMAN

When the best thing your film has going for you is the poster art you know you have a big problem. This was the case with Almost Human, an alien abduction movie where the only abduction scene is in the first five minutes. This movie could’ve cut the alien part of the story out and it would have been the same stinking pile of uninspired mess. Very rarely do I watch a movie where I end up rooting for it to end part way through.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS

What_We_Do_in_the_Shadows_poster

Welcome to the first installment of a very special event I hold close to my warm heart. Well, not my heart. My actual heart is dark and gloomy, cold and covered in bug-ridden pustules. No, this one isn’t mine, I just picked this heart out of the human waste pile at the hospital I work at. That’s right! Your very own Manster got his first job working the night shift mopping blood at Creely Sanatorium! What was I talking about? Oh, the MASSACRE MARATHON!!! I got a late start tonight but I have to be fully committed (considering last year I surprised myself and completed my goal of a WHOLE MONTH of movies every night and writing accompanying reviews!) so I feel obligated to stay up all night to finish this premiere post! I must meet the now standard expectation of 31 nights of horror! SO, without further ado (and before I clog the arteries of this paragraph like many parasitic tube worms with more phrases in parentheses) let’s get on with it!
