There comes a time in every son’s life where their father extends some profound knowledge to the boy to help him ascend to the status of man. In the bizarro-world of Jim Hosking’s The Greasy Strangler the only sage advice available is EVERYTHING NEEDS MORE GREASE! Big Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) suggests to his son Big Brayden (Sky Elobar) that maybe a little grease in his coffee would do him good. After all, “How would you know if you’ve never tried it?”

“All Bets Are Off”. Wow, not the tagline I would choose. That sounds like they are giving up on the franchise and just putting out whatever crap they can slap together. It’s a nod to Las Vegas, since that’s where the characters eventually end up, but it still doesn’t put forth a pleasant image. It undercuts the over-the-top but fun action film Resident Evil: Extinction provides.

Remember when I said I hoped the sequel to Resident Evil would maintain the adrenaline rush? Well, Resident Evil: Apocalypse takes its predecessor’s existing drive and multiplies it by ten! Surely, this means Apocalypse is ten times better than the original, right? Wrong.

Resident Evil is the film adaptation of the survival horror video game of the same name, and with a tagline like “Survive the horror!” you might think it follows closely to the source material. On the contrary, the film takes a very different approach compared to the first game. As a matter of fact, none of the characters from any of the games appear in the movie (to my knowledge). Knowing that, most would assume the film would flop and be forgotten quickly. Well, I’m here to tell you, despite poor reviews, Resident Evil sturdily cements its place in game-to-movie history.

Netflix’s newest addition to their massive catalog of originals dropped a couple of nights ago, just in time for Halloween. The trailer didn’t pique my interest but with my list of HORROR available to stream near depleted, I decided to give it a chance.

Trick ‘r Treat is a Halloween staple. It is the embodiment of the holiday, just like its mascot Sam (pictured above) is the manifestation of Halloween himself. The film ties a handful of terror-ific tales together brilliantly into an anthology that invokes laughs, SCREAMS, and everything in between.
The Final Girls (not to be confused with Final Girl) is a comedy/horror film about the daughter, Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), of a washed up scream queen, Malin Akerman (Watchmen). Max always admired her mother’s work, even when Nancy didn’t herself. When Nancy passes away, Max agrees to make an appearance at a film festival showcasing her mother’s films. A disaster ensues and Max, along with a few friends, get magically transported into her mother’s movie “Camp Bloodbath”.
